PÓRTUGOS This
town keeps its moorish structure,
and also its facades with flowers.
A walk bring us to La Pocilla quarter where its medieval public washing place
is keept well.
It was a mezquita (mosque) until the XVI century when a christian church was
built in the same place and after it was detroyed during the moorish revolt.
NARILA It is located
near by Cadiar. This small quarter
keeps rests of the moorish king Aben
Xaguar house. It is a nice visit
to be done althought it hasn't been
mainteined in well conditions.
Near by, in a private property, an old olive tree is keept beside which Aben
Humeya was proclaimed as Moorish King.
DE HAUNTED PRINCESS Warning
for gullibles.
It is said that along the towns of Poqueira (Bubión, Capileira and Pampaneira)
a haunted princess wanders and she makes everyone scared, especially men. The
princess wait for them to to say hello to them.
If you answer to her she will takes possession of them and their dreams.
LAS CASILLAS There is no description route to find this abandoned
small town so if you want to find the way the best option is to ask in Polopos.
The most gorgeous of this place is its own location between the mountains in
the top of Polopos valley facing to the coast of Granada from Sierra de la
Contraviesa.
THE PALACE OF THE MOORISH KING Jubiles
was one of the richest town of the area and, as it is
said, its king was married with a beatiful moorish woman
who betrayed him because a christian man.
As revenge, the king ordered a gorgeous palace to be built and keep her inside
until she die. It is said that sometimes the palace can be seen in the landscape.
If you see it once don't try to go forward because the palace will move away
from you until disappear in the ravine.
LA FUENTE AGRIA (the
sour fountain) In a beatiful grassland
near by Portugos it is an strange
water fountain with healthy properties.
What is curious of it is that the fountain has 5 different tubes and the water
of each one has a different healthy properties than the others.
Then the water of all of them falls until form a beautiful water fall called
El Chorreón.
SKI STATION OF SIERRA NEVADA We
have nothing against skiing but the
over explotation of Sierra Nevada
slopes has brought to the construction
of lots of hotels and facilities
in a place declared Natural Park
and Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO.
