| CLÁSICO 8-days
route around Sevilla - Cordoba -Granada |
| |
This
8-days trip to Andalusia, along the 3
cities Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada is
a classic trip.
Sevilla lies on the banks of the Guadalquivir and is one of the largest historical
centres in Europe, it has the minaret of La Giralda, the cathedral (one of the
largest in Christendom), and the Alcázar Palace. Part of its treasure
include Casa de Pilatos, the Town Hall, Archive of the Indies (where the historical
records of the American continent are kept), the Fine Arts Museum (the second
largest picture gallery in Spain) , plus convents, parish churches and palaces.
In your way from Sevilla to Cordoba you may stop in places like Carmona, Ecija,
Medina Azahara and Almodovar del Rio.
Cordoba is a city with an enormous heritage of culture and monuments. Due partly
to Its strategic position on the River Guadalquivir and partly to the wealth
of remains left by the different peoples who inhabited the city, Cordoba has
become a privileged city in the very heart of the history of the Western World:
its vast Caliphal (Arabic) civilization, during the Middle Ages, was the most
brilliant in the Europe of its day and forged lasting links between East and
West.
from Cordoba to Granada you will drive among olives trees, olives trees and more
olive trees and sometimes a white town (pueblo blanco)
In Andalucie Oriental, last Arab redoubt was reconquered by the Christian (1492),
Granada poses as the ideal city to dream. Although only it was because the Alhambra
and the Generalife, it would already be worthwhile only not to visit it, even
living it. But Granada
is much more.. The “cármenes” (typical construction from Granada)
of El Albaicín, and La Cartuja religious buildings, Cathedral, Real Chapel,
San Jerónimo and San Juan de Dios, and the palaces, compose a diverse
and rich architecture. To the outskirts, on high, the Sacromonte, holes the earth
until transforming it into a city of caves where the flamenco appears in the “zambra” (typical
dance) and the “bulería” (typical song).
Granada introduces us in a landscape that it goes from the snow to the sea going
by the mountain charm of La Alpujarra (thermal springs in Lanjarón) and
an abundant forest. If Almuñecar and Salobreña are known like beach
cities by excellence, are not it less Motril and Castell de Ferro neither the
most extensive, Albuñol and La Rábita. |

Especially impressive are the large handcarved antique french windows and the
