EXTREMADURA
Extremadura is among the most varied
interior regions in Europe: the biggest
number of kilometres of river banks
and fresh water coasts, among the firsts
in gorges, the first in pastures, one
of the most privileged in biological
diversity,....
Among Gredos Mountain Range foothills
and Plasencia city there are three
northern districts along which flows
Ambroz, Jerte ant Tietar rivers, all
of them tributaries of Tajo river,
natural gaps among these and the Tras
las Sierras mountains and Tormantos
mountain range. These two mountain
ranges exceed 1000 meters height, and
in the
northern
part of Jerte's Valley is the highest
peak in Extremadura, "El calverito",
with 2.425 meters height.
Hurdes and Sierra de Gata, are located
north of the region, being some of
their towns the most northern points
in Extremadura, and bordering with
Salamanca lands (Castilla and Leon)
and the neighbouring Portugal. You
can enjoy them just by the simple pleasure
of watching landscapes full
of beauty, the contrast of mountain
ranges that bend towards valleys across
which go clean and clear rivers.
