Activities: Around La Vega de San Mateo you find two protected natural resorts - Camaretas and Hoya de Gamonal.
Los Pozos de las Nieves - the highest part of the island and the trail "La Mina" with its water mills should also be mentioned. Along La Mina you can see, thanks to the uninterrupted supply of water, huge laurel forests.
At the weekends you should not miss out a visit of the agricultural market, where farmers sell their products.
Other important attractions are the old church, "Molino de Gofio" and the ethnographic museum "Cho Limones", where you can see machines and tools used in agriculture.
