Fortified
country houses are an important
element in the cultural
heritage of the Ampurdan, a territory
where pirates made frequent raids.
Cal Virrei is a splendid, XIV century
fortified house, which still maintains
its original features.
Situated in a peaceful, secluded
hilltop position, close to a small
farming hamlet and a Romanesque hermitage,
with the sea only 10km away. The
family who restored the house have
furnished it with the original period
furniture and magnificent collector’s
items.
Near to Cal Virrei is the village
of Pubol (Castello Gala /Dalì),
the ruins of Ullastret and the Greek_Roman
ruins of Empuries. A few kilometres
away is the golf of Gualta and the
Costa Brava is 20km away.
An independent
house (sleeps 19+1). On the ground
floor there is a cellar, a lounge
with a TV, a room with table tennis
and a bathroom with shower. On
the first floor there is a traditional
kitchen, a dining room, a large
living room with a balcony, three
double bedrooms, a twin bedroom,
two bathrooms with bath and a toilet.
On the second floor there is a
kitchen, a living room, two double
bedrooms, three single rooms and
two bathrooms, one with a bath
and one with a shower.
AMENITIES: Swimming pool (10 x
4mt), internal patio, garden, washing
machine, covered parking. A cleaning
service on request.
